Lastly, Wungening has a staff of over 200 who actively work around the clock providing services to support their programs.

Project scope

We were approached by Wungening to develop a safety management system for their new program which was opening in 3 weeks from contact. They loved our professionalism and services, and continued to utilise our services to develop training inductions, interactive online training, audits of all sites and inspections to maintain compliance.

Safety Management Systems

Wungening contacted us to first develop a safety management system for their new upcoming program with a deadline of 3 weeks. We worked around the clock to ensure that we developed and delivered a high quality, tailored safety management system which was within the scope of the program and the organisation in general.

We first conducted a gap analysis of their existing policies and procedures using our designated gap analysis tool. This covered all scopes and was similar to the gap analysis tool we used to audit systems for ISO45001 or just to Australian Standard. We then liaised with the quality improvement team which we closely worked with along the whole process.

We firstly developed vital plans including the overall safety management plan followed by policies for the safety management system, procedures and lastly forms and checklists. We managed to get this done just in time for the opening of the program.

Training

After the Safety Management System, we were asked develop training for the workers who will be working for the program. Once again, we had a deadline of around 5 days. We developed a face-to-face training session which outlined food safety, manual handling, hazardous substances, infectious disease and much more. The deployment was held at the headquarters of the organisation and feed back from all members attending was extremely positive and overall Wungening was very happy with the training Safetec provided along with the development of the training.

Virtual Digital Training

Continuing on, Wungening asked Safetec if we had the capability to develop a LMS which can be rolled out to the wider organisation and can act as an autonomous way of presenting vital training while the organisation is growing. We developed an interactive LMS course which consisted of a general induction to the workers and specific training including awareness training and hazard identification.

Inspections and Audits

Safetec Safety Solutions firstly conducted a gap analysis of each location of Wungening. We liased with the quality improvement team, various coordinators and managers to create a plan on what actions shall be corrected first. We developed a clear and formal report which was presented to the Government of Western Australia and extensively outlines what corrective actions were to be made and how this can be achieved. We conducted inspections and audits on the programs run by Wungening including selected WA prisons, hostels, refugee locations, office hubs and more.

The results of all of the services provided to Wungening Aboriginal Corporation were well recieved and we continue to work with them to this day.
